Biovend developed internet‑enabled point‑of‑use freezers designed to automate the vending, tracking, and billing of high‑value frozen biological reagents used in medical research laboratories. The technology replaced the long‑standing industry practice of manual honour‑book recording and provided a modern, automated supply‑chain solution for molecular biology consumables.
The company secured a US$10m terms sheet with Cardinal Health’s PoU division (Vistant). The transaction did not complete following Cardinal Health’s strategic restructure and closure of the Vistant division. Biovend’s early architecture later influenced the development of automated PoU stocking programs adopted by major global reagent suppliers.
Jason served as CEO and held a 3% equity position alongside the venture capital investors.
